Getting Started FAST!

There are two methods of downloading music. The first is to use our Global Search feature. The other method is to download search software to your computer. They each have their advantages. We suggest you use both methods...but we actually prefer the search software as of this writting, it seems to deliver better results.

Global Online Search

Software Download - Window's Users (PC)

) You'll want uninstall any previous versions of KaZaA (or any other FastTrack client, like Grokster) that you may have installed. The best way to do this is with the standard Windows Add/Remove option in the Control Panel/Configuration Screen.

Now go into to your program files directory (usually c:\program files\) and open the Kazaa (Lite) directory. Delete all contents, unless => Important note: If you have added descriptions to your shared files that you want to keep, you might want to keep the contents of the 'db' folder, so you can copy it to the Kazaa Lite db folder after installation. If you use the 'My Shared Folder' to download to, you should not delete it, because any unfinished downloads will be put there after they are finished downloading.

2) Download KaZaa Lite: The easiest way to begin the download is to cut & past (use CTRL + C to cut & CTLR + V to paste) one of the links below into your address bar, and push "ENTER". (You can also type the entire link into your address bar.)

2) Choose a place on your computer to "Save" the file to. (Hint: Any place is fine, just remember where you put it)

3) After you have saved it, find the file and 'Double-Click' on it to begin the installation.

4) Continue throught the installation process until it's Finished.

5) A new KaZaA Lite icon will appear on your desktop. Double-click on this icon to start the program.

6) Go to the "Search" tab, and type in a song, music band or movie...and KaZaa Lite will find it for you.

7 ) All of your downloaded music & movies can be found in this directory: C:\Program Files\KaZaA\My Shared Folder.

8) If prompted to upgrade, choose "NO". You don't want to upgrade. The upgrade contains spyware and ad-ware.

8) To Play your song or movie, go to the "Traffic" tab, and find the file that you are downloading. Once it's "completed", you cand double-click on it and it will then play. If it's a video, you should see it play in the "Theatre" section of KaZaA.
