When
I try to install the file I just downloaded, I get this error
message, “Could not initialize installation, file expected=xxxxxxx,
size returned=xxxxxxx." What does this mean?
This message means that the install program became corrupted
during the download process.
When
you download a file, you will see the “File Download”
dialog box. You may choose to either “Save” the
file or “Open” the file. If you decide to “Open”
the file, the file will be saved into your temp directory and
the installation will start. If instead you “Save”
the file to a place on your computer, you MUST remember where
you saved it. After the file has been downloaded, locate the
file, then double-click on it to start the installation process.
Before
you download the file again, make sure that you delete previous
file. This may mean that you will need to empty your temp directory
- if you tried to "Open" the file.
If
the file is still corrupt after the second download, you will
want to try downloading it a different way. For example, if
you "Opened" the file, then choose the option "Save".
If you "Saved" the file, then choose the option to
"Open" it.
When
I try to create a CD with Roxio, I receive this message: "E80041397:
IDispatch error #4503 E80070057: The parameter is incorrect".
What's causing this?
If
you receive this message trying to burn a CD indicates that
Easy CD Creator is unable to convert one or more of your MP3
files into CD Audio. This can be caused by the MP3 file being
too low quality (less than 128kbps), or because it was created
with software which does not provide Easy CD Creator with enough
information. This is a known issue which Roxio is working to
resolve.
Roxio
suggests you use the "Test Only" option in Easy CD
Creator's Music CD Project to determine which of your MP3 files
will work correctly. "Test Only" will go through the
motions of recording, but will not write on the CD. This way
you can test your files without wasting CDs.
Why
do I get an error message that says "I do not have permission
and must sign on as an administrator?"
Kazaa
Lite does not install well on Windows '95, and will give the
following error message listed below:
"You
do not have access to make the required system configurations.
Please rerun this from an administrator's account."
Solution:
Don't use Kazaa Lite, try one of the other fine MP3 search programs
available that are Windows '95 compatible.
If
you are running Windows NT, 2000 or XP, you might even see this
message:
“This
operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on
this computer. Please contact your system administrator.”
In
order to install programs on NT, 2000 or XP, you will need to
be logged in as the administrator or as somebody with sufficent
permissions. You will need to locate a User ID with that access.
These
operating systems allow for different users to logon, and provide
for different security access, settings, colors, etc. The first
user to setup the machine will be considered the Administrator...this
user ID will have full access to the computer, and will have
the ability to install any program desired. Other users may
have less access, and produce these error messages. You may
need to contact the person that owns the computer or set it
up.
If
you get this message while at work your computer has been restricted.
In that case, just contact the Administror (or Help Desk) and
tell them you want to install a program. If they consent, they
will either install it for you or give you the access you need
to install it yourself.
If
you encounter these error messages at home, contact the company
that you purchased the computer from and ask how you can login
as the Administrator.
I have XP, but Kazaa Lite won't run
Microsoft
XP Service Pack 1 disables Kazaa Lite;
I t appears that there may be problem for some, but not all,
XP users that have Servic Pack 1. If you experience the problem
(your system will not even load the Kazaa program). Here is
how make it work:
Step
1. After you have installed Kazaa Lite, right click on the program
file (c:\program files\kazaa lite\kazaa.exe), and select "Properties".
Then select the "Compatibility" tab.
Step 2. Check the box labeled "Run this program in Compatibility
Mode for" and select Windows 98/ME from the dropdown menu.
Step 3. Then click "apply" and then ok.
The
program should now run fine.
